Why You Should Visit London

There are a number of cities in Europe to choose as a vacation spot. However, if you have never been to London, you should consider it for your next trip. If you have been to London, you should consider it for another getaway. I am not saying this because I have a dear friend who lives in Maidenhead, just outside of London near Windsor Castle. I am saying this because there is so much to see and do in London. You can not do everything in one trip.

A trip to London is the perfect vacation for all ages. You can plan a vacation with preschoolers in mind as well as teens. Families are welcome and there are a number of activities you can share. Adults can find all kinds of entertainment possibilities. It can be a weekend getaway or a honeymoon destination. Additional sightseeing tours can be planned around surrounding areas.

There are hundreds of noteworthy attractions to choose from. Must-sees include the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, the Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, and Westminster Abbey. Then, there are the museums such as the British Museum. For adults who like a bit of horror, there is the London Dungeon.

London has great restaurants and if you like to shop, you'll have a great time. I am partial to Harrods. Not because it is a famous name, but because of the layout and presentation of the floors in the store. So, even if I do not have the extra money to Harrods Department Store Londonsplurge on a shopping trip, I visit Harrods for the atmosphere. The Food Hall is impressive. I do enjoy afternoon tea in the restaurant.

Another great store to visit is Selfridges. It has undergone renovations and is a great store for an afternoon of shopping pleasure. Other great stores include Fortnum and Mason and Marks and Spencer. Most department stores have a restaurant.

Getting around London can be a fun experience. You can take a double-decker bus or ride the Underground. I find both to be interesting on my visits. After riding around and walking around the city, you can find a bench in Hyde Park to relax and think about your day.

Traveling to Europe can be expensive. The most expensive part of your trip will be your airline tickets. You can find a number of inexpensive hotels in and around the city. Check for the best deals on the Internet and with your travel agent. You may be able to find a good package deal which includes your airfare and hotel.

There are some free attractions such as the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. The Speakers Corner in Hyde Park provides you with a people-watching experience bar none.

When planning your trip to London, make sure you have a valid passport. It is necessary to be admitted into Britain from the United States and for your return trip home.

London is a great city to visit for those who just want to have fun, for those who like to explore new places, and for those who have a love of history.
